Fields of study in the Czech Republic

Though the Czech Republic is not as big in its area, there are many universities with a wide range of study programmes to choose from.

Though the Czech Republic has only one city with more than 1 million inhabitants and five with over 100 000 inhabi­tants, there are altogether 26 public universities, two state universities and 46 private universities. Thanks to that you can choose from a wide range of study programme:

  • Humanities and Social Studies (Economics, Law, PR and marketing, Journalism, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Pedagogy, Antropology, Archeology, Teology, Estetics, Ethnographic, Linguistics, Philology, Historiography…)
  • Natural sciences (Biology, Medicine, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Geography, Ecology, Pharmacy…)
  • Technical Studies (Architecture, Informatics, Electrotechnics, Civil Engineering, Transport studies and Logistics, Mechanical engineering, Mining industry, Textile studies…)
  • Agriculture (Forestry and Lumbering, Fisheries Stuides, Horticulture and Landscaping, Agriculture…)
  • Arts (Fine Arts, Design, Music, Theatre, Film studies…)
  • Police and Military studies
  • etc.

The most fields of study are offered by the biggest and the oldest university in the Czech Republic, Charles University in Prague, followed by Masaryk University in Brno and others.
