Project Six – another major project wins Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication BUT.

** SIX project – another major project wins Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication BUT **

Significant success, recording a Faculty of Brno. Minister of Education signed a decision to grant the implementation ** Research Center of sensory, information and communication systems (Six) **. Grants will be provided in the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovation, the priority axis Regional R & D center. Total eligible project costs are 294 million crowns, the total project costs 342 million crowns. Overall, the project has a particular opportunity to enhance the existing laboratories of the Institute founding SIX very expensive, high-end device. With these devices will be shifted towards the existing research on communication systems perspective, with the current deployment is expected in the next few years.

The project leader is Professor **. Dr.. Ing. Zbynek Raida ** Institute of Radio. The project implementation will commence a. August 2010. Infrastructure Research Centre will be completed in December 2012. In January 2013, launched a full research activity center. Research activities will focus on communication technologies operating in the emerging frequency bands, the convergence of communications and information systems, sensory networks, multimedia and wireless communication systems. * „People are confronted with the results of our research has now. Collaborate on the development of antennas and navigation systems for automobiles, we have participated in measuring the quality of mobile networks, dealing with the problem of acoustic fields, working on a multimedia interpretation of transmitted information, examining the gradual merging of information and communication services. If the project SIX successful, our share of the research mentioned getting bigger, "adds * ** Professor. Raida **. And that's not all what it brings and offers a new research center: * "The group of sensory systems develop special types of sensors that can detect chemical and biological agents that may be hazardous to living organisms. Information on the presence of hazardous substances sensors wirelessly transmit the information center, which will take the necessary measures. Similar examples can be found for each of a number of research groups. “*

Six Research Centre is a joint initiative of the Institute of Radio Engineering, Telecommunications Department, Institute of Microelectronics and Department of Physics Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication BUT. Center will be located in the existing premises of the founding institutions. This project focuses on cooperation with companies dealing with communication, information and sensory systems. The portfolio of partner companies include large multinationals such as Volkswagen or T-Mobile, but also small companies like Barco and DCOM. * The project will be SIX cooperation with partner companies also shifted to a higher level, "** * adds Prof. Raida **.

Six Apart Science Center being built in the Operational Programme Research and Development Regional Center for Innovation Research and utilization of renewable energy sources (CVVOZE). This demonstrates an essential role in active research work for the application sphere of FIT.

And what is the project SIX special? * "If I'm correct, the project is the only Six research center focused on communications technology which has been financially supported under the Operational Programme for Research Science and Innovation. SIX Center wants to be exceptional. SIX Center wants to be a recognized research center, collaborating with other European centers and universities. Research infrastructure is so expensive that each center can cover its activity is very narrow area of research. Individual centers and laboratories because of their shared research infrastructure and research together. Six of the Constitution establishing the European Cooperation Centre and participate SIX enable them to deepen this cooperation, "concludes with a smile * ** Professor. Raida **.

** ** For information about the faculty: Electrotechnical disciplines were first at the technical university, BUT the first time in 1905. Since 1959, when it was founded as an independent faculty of energy, which later transformed into the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, has successfully completed engineering studies at our faculty over 23 000 graduates. In 2001 she received the present name of Science – Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication Technology (FIT) and a year later she conceived the accreditation of new advanced degree programs in a structured study. The faculty has more than 4,400 students in bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs. Studying at the faculty is focused on a wide range of scientific areas: control technology and robotics, biomedical engineering, power electronics and electrical engineering, electrotechnology and electronics, microelectronics, and Radioelectronics Teleinformatics.
