The great success of the magazine Radioengineering - by Web of Science

Press news

Thomson Reuters, which operates a unique citation database Web of Science, included in its database of scientific journal Radioengineering **, ** which is published by the Institute of Radio Electronics, FEEC BUT. After nearly ten years of effort was assigned to the journal impact factor with a value of 0.312.

Radioengineering journal was founded in 1992 as a joint publication of the Czech and Slovak technical universities and the committees of URSI (Union Radio Scientifique Internationale). To ensure the highest possible degree of independence of the magazine, was established for electronics engineering company, which became the publisher of the magazine. Character Radioengineering journal is interdisciplinary. This magazine covers a broad area of Radio wave propagation through antennas, as well as high-frequency circuits and optoelectronics, ending with the signal processing and multimedia. The magazine is representative of a broad perspective on all aspects of today's radio technology and science. Encourages mutual inspiration between the various disciplines, and seeks to promote coherence in complex systems.

The great advantage of the magazine is to encourage young scientists to write scientific articles. The magazine offers them the opportunity for their first published articles and offers them their first experience in writing a scientific article. Independent reviewers carefully review each submitted article, and try to explain in detail stronger and weaker aspects of their authors.

  • "The magazine is trying to contribute to the trend of so-called open publishing. Published articles are only available on the internet, but their passage can be used by readers even further (subject to compliance with licensing rules under a Creative Commons 3.0). The magazine is preparing předpublikační disclosure of contributions and is considering the introduction of more modern approaches to disseminate the latest knowledge in the field of communication technology *, "explains Head of the essence of the scientific journal of the Institute of Radio and editor, ** Professor. Dr. Ing. Zbynek Raida **.

Apart from the complexity point of view, the magazine apart from the partner journals publishing articles at high speeds and support for young authors. Regarding the speed of publishing quality articles will appear on the Web of Science within three months from the date of submission of the manuscript. Regarding the promotion of young artists, carefully selected reviewers are asked for detailed comments on manuscripts that help young authors to improve their publishing skills.

Citation database Web of Science is selective. Every year, applying for inclusion in Web of Science publishers more than 2,000 periodicals, and the tender is successful only about 10% of them. The magazine includes a variety of criteria, from complying with publication dates over the composition of the editorial board, the quality of articles in English, the international diversity of authors, citation history of articles to periodicals position in the region.

  • Inclusion in the database Radioengineering journal Thomson Reuters is the result of 10 years of intensive work, which was aimed at promoting this publication in the European community of experts, dealing with communication technologies *, "says the success of Raida **. **

To promote the magazine had a sense, had to ensure a high level of published articles and their citation is sufficient. High levels of articles provides a thorough assessment of each contribution by three independent reviewers (the only negative review means the rejection of article). Sufficient citations include bringing the journal to open access periodicals (all articles available free online).

"The fact that the magazine has become a recognized European journal, suggests a number of special number devoted to international conferences, workshops or special events COST research areas of communication systems. These special numbers are prepared by leading European experts and training them in the community interest, "said a raid with a smile.

Inclusion in the journal database Thomson Reuters is mainly seen as a commitment to further work on the development of the magazine and to increase its prestige. In addition to Thomson Reuters is the part of Radioengineering Scopus, EBSCO, and INSPEC Directory of Open Access Journals.

Information about the faculty:

Electrotechnical disciplines were first at the technical university, BUT the first time in 1905. Since 1959, when it was founded as an independent faculty of energy, which later transformed into the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, has successfully completed engineering studies at our faculty over 23 000 graduates. In 2001 she received the present name of Science – Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication Technology (FIT) and a year later she conceived the accreditation of new advanced degree programs in a structured study. The faculty has more than 4,400 students in bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs.
